This tutorial will show you how to make a photograph look softer, as in the image above. I actually did this in Photoshop originally, but I tried it in PSP and it worked there too ;)
For this you will need PSP 7
This rose picture, please right click and save. I took this picture and you can use it but do not offer it for download and do not sell it.



Or you can use an image of your choice

Let's Get started

Open the rose image in PSP. Go to Layers-Promote to Layer

Go to Window-Duplicate and set the copy aside

Colors-Greyscale

Colors-Increase color depth to 16 million colors

Activate the copy you made, go to Image-Copy

Activate the grey image. Go to Image- paste as a new layer

Effects-Blur-Gaussian Blur, use a radius of 6

Open the layer palette and change the layer blend mode of the top layer to soft light

If you didn't empty the clipboard, the original rose image should still be there, so paste as a new layer again

Effects-Blur-Gaussian Blur with a radius of 6

Change the blend mode on this layer to lighten and change the opacity to about 75

Layers-merge all-Flatten. Add a frame and you're done
