I wrote this tut using Eye Candy 4000 swirl for the frosting. If you don't have Eye Candy 4000,
you can copy this tile to use as fill. Wherever the tut calls for Eye Candy swirl, floodfill with it instead

For this you will need
Paint Shop Pro 7
Eye Candy 4000 or the above tile
My gray flower tube for the icing. Unzip it and install it in your tubes folder. I learned to make icing tubes last year from one of Monica's
tuts. If you'd like to have a try at making your own, please check out Monica'sDo-It-Yourself Icing
Ok, time to make the cake
Open a new image 500 X500
Set your foreground to #C0C0C0, background to white
Click on your preset shapes and use these settings

Watch your status bar at the bottom of the workspace when you draw. Draw a cylinder from
28,126 to 470,416.
Go to layers-convert to raster. Rename this layer base.
Click on your magic wand and use these settings

Click inside the lines on the bottom part of your cake

Now go to selections-modify-expand and expand by 2
Keep this selected and add a new layer, name it cake 1
Floodfill with white. Go to effects-plugin filters-Eye Candy 4000-swirl-and use these settings

Go to selections-float, then 3D effects-cutout. Use these settings

Do it again, changing the horizontal offset to -4
Ctrl+D to deselect.
Click on your base layer. Use your magic wand to select the top part of the cake this time

Selections-modify-expand by 2
Keep this selected. Click on your cake 1 layer and add a new layer, name it cake 2
Floofill the selection with white. Go to effects-plugin filters-eye candy 4000-swirl
Use the same settings as before
Selections-float, 3D effects-cutout and use the same settings as before, except this time make both the horizontal and vertical
offsets 0 and only do it once
Ctrl+D to deselect.
You can delete the base layer now.
Add a new layer, name it icing 1
Click on your picture tubes and choose the gray flower tube you downloaded.
Set it to Scale 20, step 1
Start on the left top side of your cake. Hold down your mouse key and use a slight up
and down motion while you are drawing your icing. Draw all the way to the right side. It's ok if the icing goes over the sides, we'll fix that. If you don't like the way it turned out, edit- undo and try again

Now click on your selection tool and select rectangle. Use it to select the excess icing on the side of you cake

Now hit your delete key, deselect and do the same thing on the other side
If you want your icing the same color as mine, go to colors-colorize and use hue-194 & Saturation 63
Add a new layer, name it icing 2. Click on your picture tube and use the gray flower tube size 20 step 1.
Draw some icing at the bottom like you did at the top. Use your selection tool to cut off the excess like you did before

Now deselect and go to colors-colorize and use the same settings as before
If you're happy with everything so far, hide your background layer and merge visible.
Rename your merged layer cake.
Add a new layer, name it candle.
Set your foreground color to #A489B9, background to white
Set your foreground style to gradient use these settings

Using your selection tool set to rounded rectangle, draw a skinny rectangle to make a candle. Floodfill it with the gradient

Ctrl+D to deselect.
Now set your foreground to #E09E20, and your background to #E6C71A
Set your foreground style to null, background style to gradient using these settings

Now click on your preset shapes tool and use these settings

Draw a skinny teardrop to make the candle flame.

Layers-convert to raster. Rename this layer flame.
Duplicate this layer, name the duplicate flame 2.
Click on the flame layer. Go to effects- blur-gaussian blur and use a radius of 2
Now hide your cake layer and merge the candle, flame and flame 2 layers visible. Rename it candle
Turn your cake layer back on. Make your candle layer active and go to layers-duplicate. Do this until you have the number of candles you want.
Now arrange your candles on your cake like this

If you're happy with your cake, go to layers-merge visible and you're done
