Hello and thank mew fur visiting my page. My name is Claudia and I came to live here in February 2005. I was just a little kitten then. Someone had found my sister and I in their yard and had taken us to the Marion county animal shelter in Ocala, FL. We had to stay in an outside cage it was sooo cold. It was freezing some nights. A few miles away, my new Meowmy was miserable. She had lost her special kitty Lestat. She hadn’t planned on getting another kitty at first but she realized after awhile that she missed having a kitty that hung around her. She looked on petfinder and called a few rescues. Several she couldn’t get in touch with but the final straw came when she DID get in touch with one and the woman she talked to was rude to her and told her that anymore cats than three would be too expensive for her (without knowing anything about her). This rather obnoxious woman was my lucky day. My new meowmy called Cosette’s daddy in tears, told him what happened and said she had changed her mind. Cosette’s daddy knows what a good Meowmy she is and told her she didn’t have to put up with that. He went down to the county shelter after work and saw my sister and me. He knew one of us would be perfect, so he called her to ask if she wanted a kitty with big eyes or little eyes. She said big eyes so he adopted me! She had to wait for me to be spayed to pick me up but she was soo excited, she bought me lots of toys and a new bed. She decided she would name me Claudia after the little girl vampire in Anne Rice’s vampire chronicles, to remind her of Lestat. When she went to pick me up, she cried when she saw me because I reminded her so much of Lestat when he was a kitten. I was 12 weeks old. Unfortunately, I was also sick with a respiratory infection, but I got over that pretty quickly. Then there was a bigger complication. As she was leaving, Meowmy heard the shelter staff tell a couple that the kitty they had chosen had tested positive for feline leukemia. I had been in the same area with the kitty. I had been tested but if I had been recently infected it would have been too early to tell. Meowmy took me to her vet and she said I had to be isolated for 4 whole weeks! Yuck! So I lived in Meowmy’s bathroom and bedroom. I was happy to be home at all though. I climbed right in my new bed and went to sleep. Here I am in my bed my first day home, wasn't I cute? Meowmy had gotten me a ton of toys and when I felt better I played and played. I liked the electronic mouse and the teaser the best. I still like the teaser and have worn out around five to date. I was such a happy kitty, when Meowmy took me to the vet I purred so much, she couldn’t hear my heartbeat! She tried bouncing me a little but I didn’t stop so she had to take my pulse. I looove attention and I purr anytime anyone pays attention to me. I FINALLY got to meet my new brothers and sisters after a month. Cosette sniffed, hissed and walked away. Dante sorta liked me but hissed some. Tasha liked me right away, she’s my friend. I grew on Dante too and we wrestle a lot. The dogs, well, they’re another story. Cleo and Sagittarius hadn’t been around a kitten in awhile and were very anxious. Not that I’m a mean kitty…but I have my fun with them. I will sneak up, swat at them, and then run. I will also sneak down the stairs and wait til they see me. Once I get them whining, I will run back up. Occasionally, I will sit on the landing and dangle my little head over til they see me. After awhile they started to calm down and not get so excited when they saw me. That was no fun, so I started running to my human sisfurs room for little toys and things. I throw them down the stairs at the dogs then run. Meowmy is hoping to get a picture of me doing this soon. I am a happy, fat fun little kitty and my Meowmy loves me very much. She adopted me in memory of Lestat. I have my own personality, completely different from his, but I helped her get through the tough time of getting used to not having him around. She says I am an awesome kitty and she feels lucky she got to adopt me. More about Claudia: My birthday: Somewhere between November 1-6 2004 but the vet made it October 31 so I’d be a new years baby. I’m a Scorpio. My favorite things to do: Play with the teaser, sleep with Meowmy, and mess with the dog’s minds. I also got a new brother Magnus. It was my turn to be hissy then but I am starting to like him and we play a lot. My best friend: Tasha is my best friend to lie around with but Dante and I love to wrestle. My weird habit: I like to nibble on necks. It makes Meowmy laugh because she named me after a vampire.
